About Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is a foundation-level certification designed to provide a statement of the basic controls your organisation has in place to mitigate the risk from common cyber threats. This is achieved through a self-assessment process carried out under the guidance of our cyber security experts. You will receive certification upon successful completion, allowing you to display the Cyber Essentials badge on your documents and website.
How To Apply
- Add “Cyber Essentials” to your cart and complete your purchase.
- Within 12 working hours (or 2 working hours if you have purchased Fast Track), we will create an account for you on portal.iasme.co.uk. This is the online portal that you will use to upload and submit your answers for assessment.
- Please note: You have 6 months to complete your application before it expires. If it expires, you will need to purchase a new application.
- After you submit your self-assessment, our assessors will mark your answers against the scheme criteria and email you with their findings. This can take up to 5 working days. If you need this more quickly, please add Fast Track to your order.
- If your self-assessment meets the Cyber Essentials requirements:
- We will generate your certificate of compliance. Your certificate will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- If your self-assessment does not meet the Cyber Essentials requirements:
- Standard, Fast Track, and Extra Help services: We will not fail your first submission. Instead, we will flag areas to remediate before you resubmit. If you have purchased Extra Help, we will work with you (via video and phone calls) before you resubmit.
- Unaided: Your self-assessment will be graded as a fail.
- If your organisation fails the self-assessment, your organisation will have 14 working days (Unaided: 5 working days) from the time of failure to remediate the identified failing point(s) and resubmit for free (max 1 resubmission). If the changes are compliant, the assessor will generate your certificate. If the changes are not compliant, the assessor will mark your organisation as having failed. You will then need to purchase a new application if you still wish to pursue certification.
Cyber Essentials Plus
After successfully completing the Cyber Essentials self-assessment, you may wish to consider Cyber Essentials Plus. Please be aware that you must complete your Plus within 3 months of your Cyber Essentials certification date.
*Organisations that are certified to Cyber Essentials can opt-in to cyber insurance if they are certifying their entire organisation, are domiciled in the UK, and their annual turnover is under £20m. This insurance is not provided by ID Cyber Solutions and we cannot issue advice on it.
